A Curse Dark as Gold is a story is a retelling of the story Rumpelstiltskin. It's about two teenage girls, Charolett and Rosie. This story starts out when Charolett and Rosie's father died and left them the wool mill. As the story progresses Charolett and Rosie finds out that their father left them a debt over 21,000 pounds( Now in that time peroid that was a lot of money). Charoletts long lost rich uncle comes to live with them to take care of them, but all he can seem to do is gamble and tell the girls to sell the mill.
Charolett also falls in love with the banker that is incharge of her debt, but she was scared that they would be unhappy (her uncles convicving). They soon get married though...
This is about as far as I'm going to tell you, your going to have to read the boook to find the rest.

Since her uncle is trying to make charolette sell the Mill. There has been many accidents and the cloth has gotten destroyed. Charolett needs help, Her sister Rosie does a spell to summon help.. and Rumpelstiltskin appears. He calls himself Jack Spinner.

ReplyDeleteYou have grabbed my attention, but I would appreciate a few more details. Is the main character happy in her marriage or did she just want to escape the uncle? is the uncle still present? What happened to her sister?
To Jdaddy- The Mill has a curse, because Jack spinner's son was killed at the mill. Then Charoletts Great(Lots of great) grandfather killed Jack spinner because they thought he was a witch. Now there is a curse on the mill, Jack spins gold for Charolette but in return for a few things..... Like her son(all Millers son were givin up this way)

Mrs Bradley- The marriage between Charolett and her husband is not bad at first, but then she can't tell him certin things ... so the marriange gets rocky. She did want to escape her uncle..
